Math and English have been enemies for years, and polar opposites for much longer. Math is numbers and equations that are in need of being solved and English is words within words that long to be understood. Which one is better? Math is a broad term seems how there are so many different types of math. This means that there is so much to like. Not only is math a very well know topic around the world, it is also a challenge for every age. Geometry, Algebra, Calculus and basic math are only some of the different types of math that students have the privilege of learning. Everyone has a different favorite category but they are all equally important to not only learn but to understand. Math incorporates numbers and letters making it extra special. Math is a great subject but it isn’t the only one. English is many things, enjoyable being one of them. Writing is a vast definition when trying to describe English. This subject possesses so much more, such as reading and the correct way to write multiple different types of literature. An open mind is the best thing to have when walking into english class because creativity is a trait in high demand. Root words is another topic commonly associated with English. Root words help with understanding words that have complex meanings. English is a necessity for everyone. Math and English are very extensive subjects that make a difference in everyone's lives. The thing that is most important in both subjects is a passionate teacher. Lucky Bigfork has such amazing teachers that make these hard classes so much easier. Everyone's opinion of the subjects varies but that does not mean both aren't loved. Math and English may be enemies but they also need each other to solve their problems.
Running for the Finish
Girl who has run around the state is getting ready to graduate.
BY ALEXA KIRBY
The seniors of Bigfork Highschool are over the moon to be graduating but, will they be able to find the happy medium between sports and school. One senior is taking her athletics and sports to the next level. School and sports clash more often than not. Schools across the world are making education the top priority for all students. The star athletes seem to be taking it the hardest. Bigfork Schools are impressed by the dedication and hard work of all the students, but one senior has taken her education and her skills in her sports to the next level. Senior Bryn Morley is constantly challenging herself on the track and in the classroom. As an honors student, she is constantly working on her education. Meanwhile she is pushing herself on the track. Morley said that “Sports make it a little bit harder to keep up on classwork but they are worth it because, with all of the sports I am in; the teams have been really successful so it is just a fun way to keep school fun.” Morley is also part of clubs and classes that take time out of her training, such as photography. Morley has run in the most intense races for all of her high school career, but she seems happy to be so close to graduation. When she was asked if she is nervous for her future, she said, “ I’m excited. I’ve been ready for it since freshman year.” On the bus to and from her races, Bryn does her schoolwork while the obnoxious noise of her team members flows up and down the aisles. This all star track and cross country runner has set records all of her life but she is not going to stop there, she is “driven to succeed in everything, not just running,” Her speed and endurance in her races and her “taking the initiative” spirit is helping her in and out of her races.
Toxic Air Endangering Mental Health
There is danger in the air caused by a toxin given off by everyday appliances

Substances produced by cars, fireplaces, and wood stoves are the toxins that cause the most damage to health. The toxins in the air have been growing which means the health problems are also rising. Toxic air and pollution are notorious for harming the health of all living things. The harmful microscopic particles in the air are dangerous to the lungs and hearts of humans in general but people with asthma have a bigger struggle. The tiny particles of pollution and toxins are considered more dangerous than the larger particles that can be seen because they find a way into the bloodstream. This fine particulate matter is less than 2.5 micrometers in diameter. According to the University of Washington the psychological distress scores were 17 percent higher when in a place of high pollution. The UW paper states “Every increase in pollution over a 5 micrograms per cubic meter had the same effect as a 1.5 year loss in education” Climate change also has its effect on health. Heat stroke is a danger in most all places. Montana is known to get hot from time to time but the real danger is in places closer to the equator. Asia is still fighting against pollution and so is the United States. The winds from Asia are bringing over pollution, putting a damper on the work scientists are doing trying to slow the ozone emissions. Climate change and toxins in the air are risks but luckily Montana has not had as many problematic situations as other places in the U.S. The only way to try to help Earth is to be cautious of the things that are placed into the air and by keeping things natural.
