Open Campus Debate
Open campus, is being able to leave at lunch without any penalty. Why does BHS not have it? Bigfork is the only high school within the valley that does not have the opportunity to go have lunch outside of the school premises.
But, if you really contemplate it, would it really be worth it? As there is only thirty minutes in between lunch and sixth period, and the fast food restaurants would be over ran with all of these students, there would most definitely be no time to go out and get lunch for yourselves.
This would also cause more regulations and stresses the fact that if you’re tardy, there would be absolutely no excuses and the opportunity of being able to go out and eat would be taken away. As well, it is a high possibility that this could cause more trouble within the school system by having kids running around and causing chaos wherever they desire to go.
Of course, there is always a concern with the bad decisions that our students could make. Going off campus and doing drugs or maybe doing something that is not permitted at our school, then coming back and having all of the students at risk.
Having all of these rules and regulations just to go out to lunch will cause more stress on the staff at the school. So if you really think about it, would it really be worth having open campus?

A variety of people see Bigfork pride in their teams. As the announcer Mr. Lafontaine said, “The best cheer team in all of the state.” This title means that we cheer for our Vikes and Vals no matter what sport it is.
On the other hand, some of the sports or activities at Bigfork are not as supported as the others. We support basketball and football, we should also support our speech and debate program. All in all, the school spirit is exceeding the expectations of other schools, and year by year the school spirit seems to increase.
